"The Tablets of Love and Memory"

The following Members above have passed away since the last
Elks Memorial Day Service:

William P. Shaughnasey; Est. Lecturing Knight
Chairperson Elks Memorial Day Service.

From 2007-2008 105th Elks Memorial Service

December 3, 2007

The beautiful traditional Elks Memorial Day Service was held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, by Hudson Elks Lodge 787 in the Lodge Room ...Once more the tolling of 11 strokes has revitalized and strengthened our memories. Once more we remember, each in our own way, the warm smile, the reassuring look, and the comforting touch of those held dear.

The 11 O'clock toast was given by Exalted Ruler Rose M. Shaughnasey., the Secretary Daniel P. Shaughnasey, PER read the names of the 12 members who had passed during the year and Esquire Deb Minnerslit a candle in memory of each member. Deacon Charles O’Neil from St. Mary’s Church gave both Invocation and Benediction for the Service, Rabbi Daniel Fried gave the address to a full room of Elks and their family and guests. Music was done by member John "Jake" Martin who sang a solo and read a special poem Thomas Fisher sang the Vacant Chair and You left me up. In attendance this year was Mayor Richard Tracy of the City of Hudson.

We dedicate this, not as an hour of sorrow and despair, but one of hope and reverence; for , although we miss our members, ...By these services we rekindle the fires of memory and pay a just tribute of affection and honor to our members who have journeyed to the distant shores, said William P. Shaughnasey, Esquire as we opened the service. The dim lights in the room helped to brighten the area around the vacant chair for the annual Elks Memorial Day Service.

It is fitting that we as Elks, in the brotherhood of Elkdom, continue to honor those gone before us as "An Elk is never forgotten, never forsaken."

Sincerely ,

William P. Shaughnasey, ELK Chairman
